Lemuria

The ancient submerged continent

The name lemuria comes from the Lemur fossils found in a South African region and in Southern India by an English zoologist named P. L. Sclater who noticed a strange similarity between them. Sclater advanced a hypothesis about the existence of Lemuria, a continent which occupied the area of today's Indian ocean. Besides, the German biologist Ernst Haeckel insisted hypothetically that Lemuria might be the Eden.
